Meet Master Peter

Peter Lopez
Owner and President
Peter is a Peruvian-American taekwondo powerhouse, 2x Olympic athlete, and the founder of Top Stars Martial Arts—the Inland Empire’s best Martial Arts Studio. Raised in Peru, and sunny Southern California, Peter threw his first kicks in a small taekwondo class led by his father (Grandmaster Pedro). That early spark launched a lifelong passion and a global career that would take him to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, where he competed in the featherweight division. After graduating from Damien High School, Peter achieved a major milestone in 1998 by winning the World Championship in Istanbul, Turkey—an early sign of the global success to come. In 2001, he moved to Houston, Texas, to further sharpen his skills with the U.S. National Team. His relentless drive and international presence caught the attention of major brands, leading to sponsorships from DIRECTV, Hyundai, Gatorade, Samsung, and Adidas. These companies saw Peter not just as an elite athlete, but as a true ambassador who reflected the values and aspirations of their customer communities. Throughout his career, Peter faced intense competition, tough losses, and moments of doubt. Yet he turned each setback into fuel for growth. Today, he channels that same resilience into helping others discover their own strength—mentally, physically, and emotionally. In 2016, Peter returned home to Rancho Cucamonga with a clear mission: create a martial arts community built on discipline, drive, and deep belief in oneself. That vision became Top Stars Martial Arts—a studio known for its positive energy, top-tier training, and empowering culture. The impact speaks for itself: Top Stars (formerly Premier Martial Arts) holds an average 4.9-star rating on Google and has been voted Best Martial Arts Studio in the Empire three years in a row (2022, 2023, 2024). But beyond the awards, it’s the transformation in his students—on and off the mat—that keeps Peter inspired. In 2023, Peter was named a Lululemon Ambassador for the Rancho Cucamonga community, where he proudly represented the brand’s values of wellness, leadership, and personal growth. Whether he’s leading a class, mentoring a young athlete, or collaborating with fellow changemakers, Peter is all about showing people what's possible when you believe in yourself. Whether you're chasing Olympic dreams or just looking to become your strongest self, Peter brings elite experience, a whole lot of heart, and contagious energy to every class. Come for the kicks—stay for the belief.
